Cross-boarder M&A deals were one-sided in August as U.S. firms acquired two Canadian software companies.  Also, several U.S. venture capital firms completed financing for Canadian companies.  Details of August’s U.S. activity in Canada are listed below.  
 

 

 

Cross-Border M&A

 

  • Ontario-based Whitehill Technologies has agreed to be acquired by Skywire Software of Texas.  Both companies are global providers of software and services for insurance, financial services, legal, and professional services.  Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
     
  • Woodside Capital, a Connecticut-based PE firm announced that it has purchased the assets of the Hamilton Specialty Bar Corporation.  The acquisition was led by Woodside Capital, Pinnacle Steel and Sankaty Advisors.
     
  • Ontario-based remittance software provider Creditron has been acquired by Purepay.  Purepay is a strategic investor and operator of payments companies with offices in Ohio and New York.
